The Inner Chamber -
Awareness of her present state came slowly: the hard ground beneath her, the soreness in her arms and legs where the ropes had bound her, the terrible odor, and the pounding headache, and before she could stop herself, she vomited.
Disoriented, with a stomach void of her last meal and the few beers she had consumed at the weekly game night, she brought herself to a sitting position. Cradling her head in her hands, rubbing her temples, and wishing the locomotive inside of it would go away, she slowly pried open her eyes where darkness greeted her.
Shivering, she pulled her sore legs up to her chest, wrapped her arms around her legs, and put her head down on her knees thinking about the events that led her here. How long had she been here? And better yet, why had she been taken here? And what had happened to her friends?
