Wingfeather Books Writing Competition Benefiting Red Cross, Cash Prizes

Writing Competition Benefiting Red Cross, Cash Prizes

Wingfeather Books officially launches today and we're kicking it off with a writing competition! Proceeds, after contest expenses, will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Cash prizes will be awarded along with publication and author promotion.

Our goal is 300 entries so that we can make a substantial donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Please help spread the word.

Paranormal Romance - Short Story Competition - 4,000 words or less

What on Earth is paranormal romance? We'll take a paragraph from Wikipedia to best express it:
"Paranormal romance blends the real with the fantastic. The fantastic elements may be woven into an alternate version of our own world in an urban fantasy involving vampires, demons, and/or werewolves, time-travel, or they may be more "normal" manifestations of the paranormal—humans with psychic abilities, witches, ghosts, or angels."

Important Dates

November 6 - Contest opens
December 31 - Submission deadline, or 500 entries, whichever occurs first
January 25 - Judges finalize decisions
January 31 - Winners notified and payments go out
February 14 - Contest Anthology publication goes live, print and ebook

Print copies of the anthology will be mailed to the first-prize, second-prize, and third-prize winners once the books are received from the print company.

*Why the 500-entry cut-off?

We have 5 judges who will be working hard to meet the January 25 decision deadline. Stopping the entries at 500 will help us stay on track with our judging, prize payment, and publication dates.
