Balancing Life

How hectic is your life? Hahahaha okay, okay, aren’t we all that busy? I know that for me most days start out at 6 a.m. but there are some days that start out at 4:30 a.m. and don’t end until after 10 pm or later! I thank God that not every day is as such and am thankful for the strength He provides to overcome those long days. So my question for the day is: How do you balance life to accomplish the duties and the wants of the day?

Yes, I do believe there needs to be a balance of duties and wants – household chores, work, kids, kid’s homework, exercise, Bible study, volunteer work, entertainment, relaxation and kid’s sports activities. Have I missed anything?

Let me start my saying this: don’t force life to happen by its rules but rather make rules for life – a balanced life. This isn’t a parenting blog or a marital blog but it is a blog about where is your heart? Where are your eyes? So here is the challenge:
Matthew 6:33 (NAS)
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Expanding on this verse:
Of all the things that can occupy our minds, our time and our hearts we should make what effects the eternal kingdom priority in our lives. As we work, clean house, raise children, build a marriage, meets the needs of underprivileged - - all of this is for nothing unless we choose to put the kingdom of heaven first. It is our duty to seek God and His righteousness. The Merriam-Webster defines the word seek as to go in search of, to try to discover.

As we seek Him, God fulfills his promise: and all these things will be added to you. All the necessary things we may need in this life He gives to us and gives abundantly. We begin where we are at and turn the focus of our heart and eyes towards heaven. Jehovah Jireh – The Lord Will Provide – sees clearly the truth of our actions on display before Him and He will reward accordingly. Have faith and He will grow that faith.

Many persons may believe that they are not worthy of being a part of God’s life or  plan for this time and yet, more than anything, He wants you to see the great things in store for you and for your family! Remove yourself from the idea that your external appearance or circumstance has to be cleaned up before God will love you or rescue you! For that is not the way He is! All you have to do is be willing to open your heart to Him and He will remove the blinders from your eyes and you shall have new sight! God is not a God of favorites – all people are His and are loved by Him – it is your choice that either draws you near or keeps you away from the God of love.

The closeness of your relationship with Jesus is directly proportional to the amount of time that you choose to spend with Him each day.

Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.
Expanding on this verse:
First notice that submission to God comes first, the second is to resist the devil and the final step is a closer walk with your God, your Father. The enemy loves to tempt believers to do wrong and the way we battle this is by complete and total submission to God. This means we accept God’s wisdom and will; we trust His power and love; and we obey His commands. Nothing disarms the enemy faster than maintaining a humble heart before God.

Balancing life requires knowledge of highest to lowest priorities. What or where do you spend most of your time? With whom? What is sacrificed? Do you want a better marriage? Do you want a better work environment? Do you want to raise your children better? Do you want to maintain your home better? Do you want to be fit physically?

It may be that you need to start cutting out some of the extras in your life in order to seek God’s kingdom. Maybe learn to be content with less so you can have more. For once His kingdom is sought in your heart and becomes a reflection in your eyes then the most meaningful areas in your life will start falling into place. And you will be having an eternal affect for heaven in 2011.
